A/C is good

At the indirect request of my roommate, who had to suffer through a very uncomfortable 93* ride to the airport yesterday, I am taking my car in to get the A/C fixed, or at least the power windows fixed so I don't have to endure a New Orleans summer with no A/C and only the driver's side window for ventilation.  And no rearview mirror.  I need to get that fixed too.  My attempts at reattaching the mirror with superglue and even the nifty remounting kit I got at Auto Zone have fallen victim to New Orleans' humidity.

I swear, whatever it costs it will be worth it.  As much as I love riding my bike, having a car still comes in handy for, say, commuting to UNO for class all summer, or getting to church once I finally decide it's too hot to bike 7 miles all the way uptown.

Sounds like you have the same problem that D had, all of the windows but the drivers didn't work because of the lockout by the driver controls. Read your owner's manual ;)

Hey, what'd you know? You were right. I always wondered what that extra button was for and it turns out it was the child lock. That explains why D. could hear the window trying to roll down.

So I still don't have A/C, but at least I have windows and you probably just saved me the 50 bucks or something they would have charged me to tell me that. So thanks.

The A/C is going to have to stay broken until I get a teaching job and a paycheck. That means I'll melt all summer and plan as much of my driving as possible for the morning.

They charged me $41 to attach the new mirror, but I figure if I didn't replace it I'd end up paying for repairs when I got in an accident, that or a fine for not having a mirror next time the police in Kenner are in a bad mood.

Ah ok. On the plus side, maybe that'll help reduce the amount of driving you do overall :) Gotta have a mirror though so glad you got that fixed.

They glued the little silver thingie on. The glue package said to wait 15-20 minutes. They waited an hour and the mirror still fell off. So they glued it on again and told me to come back today to let them reattach the mirror. I figured I could tighten a screw by myself and save gas money to drive out to Metairie, so I reattached it myself this morning.

I got it attached and then I went to adjust it and it fell off. The glue set for almost 24 hours. New Orleans' humidity strikes again. I'm going to try again with the glue I got in the attachment kit, let it set for a week, and if it still comes off the heck with it. I haven't had that mirror for two months now and I've been just fine.

but will the car pass inspection without a mirror?
