getting out of a rut
Apr. 11th, 2006 04:26 pmI feel stagnant, stuck in a rut, unmotivated. Since I'd rather do something than sit around complaining about it, here's a starting list of what I'm going to do...and then I'll document it here when I actually do.
Call VISTA Red Cross managers to discuss ways to make next year work. By that I mean how do I pull off living on a VISTA stipend?
When I'm done with that I'm going straight to Judy to talk about nighttime DAT possibilities if I live in Frederick County.
Before I even turn on my computer tomorrow morning I'm going to start making those renter's insurance project phone calls. It can't be nearly as scary as I'm making it out to be.
I'm going to listen to my book on tape all the way home instead of listening to music. Ditto for tomorrow. Ditto until I'm done listening to Their Eyes were Watching God, and Mules and Men
I'm going to run on Thursday separate of Flying Feet, at least 2 miles continuously. I'm a marathon runner; this has gone on for quite long enough, thankyouverymuch.
I'm going to finish reading Hurricane Watch and Ultramarathon Man.
I'm going to start writing to my Red Cross friends. Handwritten cards, in addition to emails. Nothing like that human touch.
That's just for starters.

Date: 2006-04-12 01:02 am (UTC)Please hold me to it. I know I can, but sometimes it's hard to stay motivated when things aren't going as well as I would hope.

Date: 2006-04-13 12:32 am (UTC)I didn't make the renter's insurance phone calls because I made more excuses-computer was turned on in an attempt by Dave to get my acrobat working, washing machine was too noisy, had to work on mass care inventory and fire safety presentation...it will get done eventually. I also didn't call the VISTA people, but I did pick up a copy of the Frederick paper on the way home to look for apartments and found one in Buckeystown for $450 a month. My goal is down around $400 and a little closer to work to save on gas, but it's a start.
I was successful on one part of that equation though-I finished listening to Their Eyes were Watching God. I didn't know there was a hurricane in that story.
So, what about those resumes? How many miles today?
