New layout = good?  =bad?  Is it easy to read?  Is it "me" as well as you know me?

As for the Baltimore Women's Classic this morning, it was...frustrating.  It was frustrating because my mom and I hung out in the car awhile to stay out of the rain, only to find when we got to the race start that there was a huge line at the portapotties.  Apparently the other 12 that the race directors ordered just never got there, so there were 3 portapotties for 843 women (it's an all-women's race, as you might guess from the name).  The real problem was that the race director told us they'd hold up the race start, and then the race started without us by a good 5 minutes.  By the time we crossed the start line it was all we could do to dodge the walkers.  Never mind that this is probably the fastest 5k in Baltimore, as somehow they found a 1 1/2 mile stretch of the city with no major hills.  No PR or even an attempt at a PR, not that I was probably in shape for one anyway.

Lessons learned-get to the race start a little earlier just in case.  Make sure, as the race director of the Bachman Valley 1/2 Marathon, that this does not happen for my race.  (Which it won't because we use the bathrooms at the farm where the race starts and the fields after that, but I'll at least knock on the bathroom doors before I start the race.)  Listen to runner's complaints after the race instead of hiding or brushing them off.  (The race director today did a good job of listening, and for that I'll consider running the race next year.  If I'm still in Maryland, that is.)

You live, you learn.  In the scheme of things it's not that big of a deal.

I had another AmeriCorps interview yesterday, this time with the Maryland Conservation Corps.  I'd be working at the Patapsco River State Park if they chose me, and there's no guarantee they would because they have 400 people apply for 40 positions statewide.  So I don't know.  The interview process would take awhile but he did say I sounded like a good candidate.  No contact from any of the Louisiana positions yet.  I'm leaning towards the NPRC position in Baltimore so I can keep working at the Red Cross.  That's just today though.

I feel as if I should post some more interesting stuff here.  I'll wait until I get good and fired up about something.  The NOLA trip in 5 DAYS should do that.

And if memory serves, you had talked a few months back about working maybe in a National Park near Asheville, so MCC would probably be a good fit for you. You're in my prayers for the job search, as well as everything else.

And you still have a volunteer for Bachman Valley if you need.

I had one of those inspirational posters with a rowboat on a tropical beach. I don't remember what the inspirational quote was; I just liked the picture. B-)
