good news!
May. 29th, 2005 01:41 pmWell, it turns out we're not going after all. :-( I was very disappointed at first, but it turns out that the same professor is going to the Gambia this summer with several other professors, and all us students/alums (I'm not a student anymore) will be invited along. The best parts are that it'll still be free (plus spending money and more antimalarial pills), and it'll likely be longer than this one would have been.
The trick is that a trip mid-July will mess with my marathon training, keep me from going to the Special Olympics sailing regatta (most likely), and not leave me much time to make money from a summer job. All the more reason to be focused with my training and to start working ASAP. And speaking of working, I have two Americorps interviews set up for next week, one on Thursday morning (an informational meeting, actually), and another one TBA but sometime next week. Hopefully that other one can be Thursday as well, 'cause they'll both be in Baltimore an hour's drive away, and I'd rather get working as soon as possible and not have to miss two days in an already short week.
In other news, I ran with the Team in Training long run group for the first time yesterday. Well, "long run" is relative and "ran with" is relative, but still, I was there even if the excessive talking beforehand got on my nerves a little. I know it was all necessary info. for new runners, but still, I just wanted to get going! I ran a little more than 4 miles by myself, but most people weren't running with large groups. And they had really good cookies afterwards, which is incentive enough to show up every week, in my opinion. Those coconut chocolate chip bars were entirely too good. The only downside is that while my left leg didn't hurt at all while I was running, it's pretty stiff now. ?!? This week will have to be a super-easy week if I want to be ready for fall marathon training.
I love comments. :-)
