NPRC interview
Jun. 21st, 2006 10:38 amI just had my interview with the NPRC in Baltimore. I think it went well. I tried not to be repetitive and use the same examples over and over again, and I tried not to ramble (as I tend to do when I'm nervous or don't know what I want to say). They had 20-25 people apply for 4 positions, but some of those people have withdrawn their applications or taken other positions. They seemed very positive, though only 2 or 3 of them were there-one was out on a fire call, and another was in a meeting or somesuch. They'll let me know by the end of the week where I stand.
I have another interview tomorrow, with the United Way of Calvert County's Success by 6 director. My New Orleans NPRC application is listed as "Under Review," but I haven't heard from them yet. I haven't heard from any of the other organizations either.
Back to work. I've got a bunch of preparedness brochures to get out to the local libraries and a CDE resource book to research, then tonight's the Keys game.

EDIT: I've been offered a position with the NPRC in Baltimore/Central Maryland Red Cross chapter. I'm going to email the directors of the other programs I applied to and let them know I have an offer but I'd be glad to interview with them if they can do it quickly.
I want to work for the Red Cross, I know that much. That's the only way I can see to stay with AmeriCorps and get away with regular disaster deployments. But if I were offered a Red Cross position down in New Orleans, would I take it? I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, if I'm offered a position down there. It has to happen quickly though, because I don't know how long this position will wait.
