I've lived in Maryland my whole life, with the exception of a brief flirt with South Florida.
I live at home with my parents, two sisters, and one brother.
We have 2 cats, a bird, a guinea pig, several fish, multiple tarantulas, and a scorpion (those last two are my sister's).
I ran out on the dock at St. Mary's when it was almost submerged during Hurricane Isabel (2003).
I went to school in Miami for a semester and studied at Florida International University.
At the end of that semester I got to go to Key West for a weekend.
I ate way too much key lime pie on that trip and fell in love with Key West.
I graduated from St. Mary's College in May 2005 with a degree in history and a concentration in Africa and the African Diaspora.
I went to NYC in November of 2001and saw "Ground Zero" up close.
I ran my first 1/2 marathon in August, 2002, in NYC (Manhattan 1/2).
I ran my first marathon in October, 2002, in DC (Marine Corps).
I had never run more than a mile at a stretch before February, 2002 (so don't you dare tell me you can't do it, whatever "it" is).
I've run 5 marathons, with a personal best time of 4 hours and 14 minutes.
I've run 8 1/2 marathons, with a personal best time of 1 hour and 55 minutes.
I'm directing the Bachman Valley 1/2 Marathon this September.
Until August 25th, I'm an AmeriCorps*VISTA for the American Red Cross in Frederick County, Maryland.
I started my term of service on August 29th, 2005.
I went to New Orleans for 3 weeks with the American Red Cross in March, 2006.
I fell in love with New Orleans on that trip.
I served hundreds of meals a day to the residents of the Lower 9th Ward, Gentilly, and Violet.
I learned to love hurricanes at Pat O'Brien's (maybe a little too much).
I went back to New Orleans in July, 2006, to gut houses and listen to Katrina stories.
I will move to New Orleans (someday).
After I finish my term of service with the American Red Cross, I'm going to start subbing in local elementary schools.
My goal is to get my master's in education, possibly at St. Mary's but we shall see.
I collect flamingos.
I'm a parrothead and I'm listening to Jimmy Buffett right now.
My favorite Jimmy Buffett song is "Makin' Music for Money."
My dad built a 43-foot sailboat from the ground up.

I think that covers it for now.
