Conversation at work today, where I'm somewhat famous for running the 4 miles home most days:

Guy who was also putting away endless shirts: What if it starts raining on your way home?
Me: I'd get wet.

I just thought it was funny. I actually like running in funky weather more than perfect weather-makes for better stories. Like 95* heat, 4 inches of snow (for 26.2 miles, no less), impending thunderstorms, blowing freezing rain. Keeps life interesting. Almost anyone can get out there when the weather's nice, it takes more character to get out there when the weather's gross.
Putting away endless overpriced clothing (for $9 an hour, so I'm not complaining) is boring, but it gives me time to think. Time to think about all the things I wish I'd done. Like finish French lit., dance in Stars and Stripes, etc. Made me think that the best way to be satisfied with your life is to get out there and DO SOMETHING. Don't wonder or think about it too much. Then I thought about all the things I've done that scared the heck out of me but that I'm so proud of-like going to school in Miami, going over a Class 5 rapid and a 6-foot waterfall, going sea kayaking for a week in the Bahamas without really knowing how to swim, running my first marathon. Sure starting something new is scary, but doing nothing is worse.
So, what's next? :-)
