Life is good.  Tuesday night I got sick and tired of sitting around my hotel room so I wandered on down to The Mall and checked out the WWII Memorial, saw the Washington Monument in the Reflecting Pool at night, and walked up the Lincoln Memorial.  Last night, I had dinner up in Georgetown at Thaiphoon and lunch on 19th Street at Corner Bakery Cafe.  Green Papaya salad with spicy lime dressing and coconut curry chicken and a chicken pesto sandwich.  All I gotta say is that I could get used to living like this and good thing I'm running so much beacuse there's all kinds of good food to eat.  That, and it's probably quicker to walk anyplace around here because traffic in DC is always horrendous and I stink at parallel parking.  6 miles Wednesday night, 5 miles last night, and 15 miles tomorrow morning.  Then Sunday morning at 8:46 is the Run to Remember 5k, and Monday I get back to work in the Deployment Center, though fortunately there's not much going on around here.  I'm hoping Friday I'll get to come home for good, because I have sub. training a week from Monday.

I don't know how I pull this off.  My first disaster assignment was in New Orleans and this one is in DC.  You're not getting any complaints from me.

Rough life you lead on these deployments. :-P

If you're there much longer, I may have to come into town after work via the Metro (yeah, like I'm parking my car in DC) and go to dinner with you or something fun like that. I haven't been to DC in years. And I do need to get to the WWII memorial for that chalk rubbing I promised her.

Let me know if you're free Sunday--give me a call. I'm leaving work shortly and don't know if I'll get to the library or the cafe tomorrow.

Sunday I have the Run to Remember at 8:46 and a Flying Feet workout at 4. So I don't know if it'll work out, but thanks for thinking of me.

You're welcome to drop by on Sunday on your way back down to DC unless you don't go back until Monday (though if I know how much you dislike the Beltway, I would understand your wanting to get there before it got busy). Work's worn me out this week--way too much information to digest--so seeing a good friend would be a nice change.

The "Her" in reference to the chalk rubbing was to my friend Janet. I think I told you, but don't remember. It's been a mentally tiring week.

Yeah, I made it to the library.

I just re-read your comment--quite the running day you have scheduled on Sunday.

I enjoyed my time in DC when I went there 7 years ago.

It's a great place to visit. All the museums are free and while it's a pain to drive/park it does seem to be more pedestrian-friendly than most cities I've visited.

Glad you are finding time for running and otherwise keeping yourself entertained. How are your times?

I'm slower when I'm in marathon training. I'd be lucky to run 10 mm on any run at this point, but that's the price you pay for endurance in the short run. It'll all pay off when I run under 4 hours in November.

That would have been me. I keep forgetting I allow anonymous comments on my journal.

If I break 10 minute miles for my ten-miler, then perhaps I'll pass judgement. Sadly I don't think you have anything but my support and admiration to look forward to.
