Connecticut doesn't count because I only got out of the car for a rest stop and most rest areas look about the same. Ditto for Massachusetts, while I know we drove through there en route to Maine on a family vacation.

Texas won't count when I fly through Dallas on my way home from New Orleans next winter. I have to spend the night or at least see something unique (other than an airport gift shop).

Alabama and Mississippi will be added next summer when I drive to New Orleans.

Sounds like a wonderful time you two had--I'm jealous. :-P I count states I stop in but don't stay in because I always make a point of stopping and finding something unique to see first. That at least makes it a little memorable.

We were going to go the the beach, perhaps Waveland, maybe up to Biloxi/Long Beach, but we were out of time at had to get back to CG before 10:30. As it was, we were late. But one day! I will spend a longer time in Mississippi! And you can show me the cool places, and your oft-storied Wal-Mart.
