RSD has gotten back to me already.  I have to pick a morning next week to go in for a "Skills Assessment" and bring identification, proof of enrollment from UNO, and an official list of the courses which I am taking.

I'm thinking Wednesday because I have field experience scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday, I can't get the paperwork together by Monday because the offices at UNO are closed, and Friday is my last day at EC other than Thanksgiving dinner.  This assessment starts at 9 am but I have no idea how long it takes.

This is exciting and exactly what I needed today.

Now I'm going out for a run before it gets dark.  The Crescent City Fall Classic 5k is tomorrow morning, bright and early at 8:30 am.

EDIT:  The Office of the Registrar at UNO is working on my proof of enrollment and list of enrolled courses.  Keep your fingers crossed that it's ready by tomorrow afternoon, or else I'll have to reschedule the RSD testing until Friday.

:::in shock:::

Is that a misprint?

Nope. I was shocked too. A reply in 2 days with concise instructions and no apparent red tape. I'm impressed. They must really need teachers.

Are you going to run the Mardi Gras Marathon? I'm planning on doing it, but I really need to start training!!! :)

I'm going to do the 1/2. There are no marathons in my immediate future. I won't have the time for that kind of training once I start teaching. The kind of training I'd want to do for a marathon would occupy every non-sleeping, non-eating, non-working moment, at least 50 miles a week including 15-20 on weekends.

Completing a marathon is an awesome accomplishment no matter how you do it.

There's no marathon in my future either. I'm just going to do the half. :)

Have you run a half before?

No way! I'm new to running and my friend Heather convinced me to start training for the 1/2. I think I'm nuts for agreeing to it!

24:38 and a seeded number for the Crescent City Classic 10k in the spring. A PR would have been nice too, but I missed that by 11 seconds. It was still a fantastic race.

I didn't say so in my comment to you on my journal, but I'm really excited that this is coming together so quickly. If there's anything I can do during the process, lemme know.

Your icons are always so appropriate.

I'm going to take whatever position I can get (as long as it's in elementary school) for starters. I'll work from there.

For now, though, it's over the west bank for sheets so I can stop sleeping in a sleeping bag. I've been here 3 months and I'm here for keeps. It's time to find more permanent arrangements.

They should be--I have so many of them.

Yeah, I'd say this is one of those "Take off your jacket! Stay awhile!" occasions.

Now that you're on track to get a job down there, I need to start looking for jobs down there more actively.

At least I'm not sleeping on an air mattress anymore. That lasted entirely too long, almost 3 months or until the first cold snap got me motivated, take your pick.

What kind of job are you thinking of?

Air mattresses and I have a really rocky relationship, as you remember. I woke up for 8 days feeling like taco filling.

I'm actually considering investigating jobs with the city's Tourism and Convention bureau. As high-energy and into working with people as I am, and as knowledgeable about the city as I am, I think it'd be a good fit.

Unless I'm miscalculating, you won't get this until after your run. I hope you had a good time and met any goals you intended for it. How did it go?

24:38, good enough for a seeded number at the Crescent City Classic 10k in the spring. I was just 10 seconds off my all-time 5k PR of 24:28.

Now it's time to recover and shift into 1/2 marathon training mode.

Congratulations on a great run! Have fun with the change-up in training.
