I feel the need to share more positive New Orleans moments, like the neighborhood kids running the first couple blocks with me yesterday and celebrating the end of hurricane season with a cafe au lait praline from the farmer's market and a hot cafe au lait at Sound Cafe. I missed the food co-op meeting 'cause I was thrift store shopping for professional work clothes. I start Monday if the principal mailed the paperwork to RSD.
There are Christmas lights on the shotgun houses and the palm trees. Farms in North Carolina ship us our Christmas trees. Being from the chilly not-so-far-North, it's strange to be getting ready for Christmas when it feels like spring. Most of my Christmas shopping is done, small local gifts since it all has to fit in my luggage on the 23rd, nothing from the mall.
Right now I'm wearing shorts and looking forward to tomorrow afternoon's Saints game. I even have a Saints santa hat.
