It's late and I'm tired from spending my day in a world of water and music to, in, and from Lafayette.  For now I'll just say that my French is coming back more quickly than I expected, between subbing at the charter school and listening to Cajun music whenever I'm driving.  I just need to find more opportunities to practice.

In a nutshell, here's what I spent today doing:

driving through drenching rain and storms
driving farther west than I've ever been
visiting the Acadian Cultural Center
listening to the Mamadou Diabate Ensemble from Mali
listening to Ode a l'Acadie from New Brunswick
listening to Benwala from Quebec
eating seafood jambalaya
driving home via US-90, not worth it because it took longer and it was dark so I couldn't see anything

It feels good to get out of New Orleans every once in awhile.  There's so much more to Louisiana that I want to see.

Glad you made it back safe and sound,
the three "driving" points sound like
elements at the start of a horror movie.

How was the jambalaya?

Delicious, as expected.

The drive out was a little scary with all that rain. Apparently my street flooded at least a foot deep from that same line of storms. I'm not sorry I missed it.
