I just ran 35:43 for 4 miles at the Bear Run 4-miler out in Pleasant Valley, MD. I won the women's division, too. Pretty exciting, plus I raked in an apple pie. That in itself should be motivation to run more, so I'll be hungry for all that pie!
I also ran 53:48 for a 10k yesterday, down at the MD Athletic Club in Timonium. First of all, let me tell you that that place is huge. 4 pools, dozens of treadmills and ellipticals and bikes and such, you could practically get lost in there! (Yes, I'm a country girl-large buildings impress me. My fellow Americorps VISTAs and I had so much fun at the Towson Towne Mall back in December-we didn't buy anything, just ogled the 4 stories. But I digress.) It was advertised as a qualifier for the National Capital Marathon in DC 3/25, but I mostly ran it to get a feel for my speed. Turns out I haven't lost ground, as I ran the 10k in 53:48, a 30 second improvement over my best time.
Today's one of those slow rainy days. Perfect for curling up with a good book and making stir-fry and rice and beans for dinner.
