For all my talk about fire safety and prevention, I really should know better than to not only leave my space heater plugged in, but turned on full blast, overnight. It's really scary to think of what might have happened, esp. if Mary hadn't come in after her volunteer orientation to check on it.

Do as I say, not as I do. Don't leave any heat source-candles, space heat, keroscene lantern, stove, etc-turned on unless you're very present and aware of it.

Everybody forgets things. I've done something like that, too. I don't know anybody who hasn't forgotten something like that at some point. Don't beat yourself up about it.

It's my job to worry about stuff like that, even if I shouldn't. It's kinda hard not to after you've seen firsthand the kind of damage a fire can cause, and just because a mattress was too close to a heat or a grease fire got out of control.

I knew what you meant, but I also know that things get forgotten sometimes. I know that you've seen the damage, which I know doesn't make it any easier, but we're all susceptible to forgetfulness.

You know what I'm trying to say.
