48 days until the next hurricane season starts.

78 days until I can be deployed for the next hurricane season. Or 88 days if I find a way to get down to NOLA to help with cleanup the first week of July.

I was at a disaster meeting at my (new) local chapter. I asked someone how many days were left till hurricane season. They looked at me and said "June".

I laughed. Clearly they don't live, eat, breathe Red Cross, or they'd know the exact number of days left (I'm sort of sad that I'm no longer that immersed in the 'Cross anymore... hopefully I'll have the chance again someday).

Hi, Lauren~

You probably have some idea of who I am (Adam), and I wanted to ask you something. Bethany told me today that the VISTA trip to NoLa was moved to the last weekend in May but that you two were considering going in July anyway. I was wondering if you'd mind terribly if I joined you two. Please let me know either way--I've always wanted to see New Orleans, especially after hearing about Bethany's wonderful work down there, but I also don't want to impose.

It's very nice of you to ask, but of course I don't mind if you come! Nothing is definite yet, but I like to think that the whole point of all this is to get as many people involved as possible. The more the merrier! (not to mention the additional work that will get done)

Awesome. Thank you! I've been wanting to get down there to do something to help out since August. And, obviously, it's an excuse to spend some good time with Bethany and meet some of her friends. :-) Thanks again! Please keep me posted!
