I'm making up "hurricane season 2006" cards for the other Red Cross disaster relief workers I met in New Orleans. I'm looking for something clever and meaningful to write on the front, and something matching and catchy to write on the inside. Something to the tune of "you all have helped show me that the power of nature to destroy has nothing on the power of the human spirit." Only more eloquent than that.

Winner gets one of my hurricane season cards.

Outside: The storm may have damaged things, flared tempers, and displaced lives...

Inside: ...but it revealed the strength we all have to rebuild and rise again. Thank you for being there as I discovered that.

(I'll work a little more on the wording, but you get the idea.)

I'm thinking of something more along the lines of "we gave people hope out of last year's tragedy, now let's get out there and do it again." Less about me and more about "we" and the people we know are going to need our help.

I really like the middle third though.

Outside: The storm was a dark day for so many people...

Inside: ...but it revealed the strength we all have to rise from the ashes. Together, we'll help those people who need us the most to return to the lives they knew.

What thinkst thou?

Somehow I'm not surprised you worked a phoenix theme in there. I like it.

Front: During the last hurricane season you helped bring hope to those who were affected. Thank you.

Inside: What, did you think that meant you're off the hook for this season?

:)

You both get the prize, which means I have to ink up my stamp pad and make two more cards.

"The storm was a dark day for so many people, but together we brought food and hope to those who needed it most. (Inside) Don't be thinking that gets you off the hook for this season."

You all are great.

On the outside: "George Bush does not like black people"~Kayne West
On the inside: But you obviously do, thanks for restoring people's faith in desegregation and helping get lives back on track (sorry if it's a bit off-color)

-or-

On the outside: "Though winds may blow and waters rise
We have the power to help restore lives"
On the inside: "Working together, we have the power to do something great,
Not only helping people to rebuild their homes, but to restore their faith."

(or on the inside: "NOW CHUG!")
