I'm back

I'm not sure how much I got sorted out. My family still doesn't know that I'm applying for AmeriCorps positions down on the gulf coast. My sisters graduated from high school this weekend, and besides how busy all of us were with preparations for the graduation party, I didn't want to hog all the attention. It's gonna have to happen eventually though. The application is almost done. All I need are two references and it'll be on it's way.

I ran 5 days in a row last Wednesday-Sunday and racked up a hill workout, a speed workout (8x200) and 16 miles. The Flying Feet summer running program starts this Sunday at 6:30 pm. I'll miss a lot of the early runs because of handbells/the NOLA trip, including some ice cream and breakfast runs. I also went to a dinner planning meeting for the Bachman Valley 1/2 Marathon. It doesn't look like delegating most of the work is going to be a problem.

My first Special Olympics sailing practice is tonight. According to my dad, the weather looks to be perfect.

I'm taking Coleen's advice on this whole AmeriCorps thing. The answer is going to come to me when I least expect it, but there's no sense in worrying myself sick over it when I don't even have any job offers yet.

No gushy comments, okay? If I have your support I know it already. :-)

I'll keep it simple and say welcome back. :-) I'm glad to volunteer for/help out with Bachman Valley however you need. And I'd be glad to be a reference if you like.

Hope we can talk soon.

And have a great time with Special Olympics tonight--I've always wanted to go sailing with you. Maybe once I'm moved.

Glad to see you back. Glad to hear you'll let the decision happen when it wants/needs to happen - listening to your inner voice harmonize with the universe takes a certain gift of hearing and insight, but you have both - we all do, actually, just, some (or most) of us don't listen to it - and you're learning to hear/heed it. Always a good thing.

And hey, I didn't know you did Special Olympics stuff! Good for you!

My dad started building his 43-foot sailboat when I was in middle school and he got it in the water just last summer. He built it from boards and nails, from the ground up. He broke both of his wrists and almost cut off a finger in the process. The boat's named Apparition.

A large part of why I went to St. Mary's was to be by the water. That's where I learned to sail almost 4 years ago-yes, you can take sailing as a for-credit class down there. I started sailing with Special Olympics the next summer. Last summer they finally trusted me enough to let me take an athlete out by myself.

Fantastic. And sailing is so refreshing. It's been too long since I've been out on the water. There is a program on Jamestown for sailing for people with disabilities 0 I plan to look into it/get involved.

If NOLA doesn't completely change my life/plans. I hear it has that effect on people. :)

Speaking of NOLA changing your life...I just got this in the mail today: http://www.katrinareliefbadge.com/
(No, not the $400 one.)

Though, I am sorry to hear your dad took so much damage in building the boadt. But it's amazingly cool that he built it from boards and nails... talented guy. I watch them build boats in Bristol occassionally, and it's something to see, for sure.

You had good reason to be worried. I just about did worry myself sick. I don't always do what's best for me even when I know I should do it. Go figure. I have the feeling that once I get the application turned in I'll feel a lot better.

I'll remember your advice even if I need to keep reminding myself to keep myself on track. :-)

I have to admit, I was worried too, and about the same thing. I went through something similar not that long ago, as I'm sure you remember, and I was hoping you wouldn't have to go through the same experience. I'm glad you're feeling better, though.
