I'll make this quick because I'm tired. Suffice to say that I had an awesome run this afternoon, following avehoward's advice on lactate threshold intervals. 6x1000 in an average 5:17. I'm happy because I was supposed to do them in 5:33, but a much faster pace felt easy. Guess I'm in better shape than I thought. :-)

Actually, 5:17 would be right in line with your 5k time...I went with the median time because your three times listed gave me formed a progression of VDOTS...but hey, awesome job with the LTs!

So that means I'm living up to my 5k potential, and I need more endurance for and more confidence in longer races. I can handle that.
It was a really cool workout. A bit warm though. Oh well. I'm tough.

LT is lactate threshold, the pace at which you can run no faster because your muscles accumulate lactic acid faster than they can flush it out. LT intervals work on pushing that pace back so you can run faster without hurting. And you know what a 5k is. :-)
I know I'm a runner 'cause you said it was a beautiful day but I thought it was hot. The sky was a beautiful shade of blue though, and hopefully all that sun helped tan my pale-from-too-much-time-studying pallor. :p
