Internship I, grades 4-8
Meeting the Needs of All Learners
History of Louisiana
Irish Famine and Katrina

I have to wait until I find out my PRAXIS II scores to register for the rest of my classes:
Behavior Support/Classroom Management
Foundations of Literacy Devolopment
Principles of Assessment, Teaching, Learning

Unfortunately, I didn't see History of New Orleans on the class list, and the History of New Orleans Music class is full.

I listened to Fats Domino's "Walkin' to New Orleans" 5 times straight while waiting at a traffic light after I had my academic counseling appointment this afternoon.

Monday morning I can register for two of my teaching classes and any other classes I want at the University of New Orleans.  I'm thinking History of Louisiana and History of New Orleans Music, or possibly Intro. to Latin American History or "Irish Famine and Katrina".  Tomorrow morning I take my PRAXIS II Middle School Social Studies test, and after UNO gets my score from that test I can register for the rest of my teacher classes.  I can't wait to get back in school.

Plus, there's still the possibility of a provisional teacher certification, which the academic counselor told me students do on a regular basis.  I'm not thinking I want to do that right away, but I might after my first semester.  Once you get a provisional certification you can get a paid teaching job and get certified with a capstone project instead of student teaching.  I'll see how I feel about that after I move down there and get started.

Also, there's on-campus housing that you can get for just the fall semester.  I'm not sure if there's a kitchen in those suites, but if it's just for the fall I could deal with that.  I still have to call Privateer Place (another on-campus housing option) and see if they'll let you do just the fall semester.  If I can live on campus without the commitment of doing that for the whole year, I can look for off-campus housing without having to do that from 1000 miles away.

I still have to get the financial stuff sorted out, but one step at a time, one step at a time...

This is to confirm your admission to the University of New Orleans. If you have not already received your admission packet in the mail, it should arrive shortly. If you have any questions in the meantime, or if you wish notify us of a change in your enrollment status, please contact us at admissions@uno.edu

My plane leaves Sunday for Baltimore via Dallas and while I would love more than anything to stay in New Orleans for, oh, say, another couple months, now I have a definite date for coming back here for good.  Fall semester classes start August 20th, I believe.  No longer do I have to say that I have every intention of moving here, or that I plan on moving here, or whatever.  If I can find the money and a place to live, I will be living in New Orleans in 6 months.  That's about the best feeling in the world, being on my way to making this dream reality.
